Turtle Cards

Oh, Snap

Thinking of You

 Shellibrate!
I gave this one to my neice for her birthday

All cards were colored with Spectrum Noir markers. The stamp set is by The Stamps of Life (July's issue 2012). I am trying to make more cards with all of my stamps. I find it easier and more productive to make several of them at once.

Golden Anniversary

My parents are going to be celebrating their 50th anniversary this month. We are having a party to recognize that this is truly a wonderful achievement for any couple. Love this strong deserves to be noticed by all. With all that goes on I made it a point to take the time to design and make their invitations. It is my little way of saying thank you: I appreciate that they beat the odds and gave us hope that love is the glue to happiness.

Base of the card is an A6 white card
Mat is gold paper and white embossed fleur de lis pattern (Spellbinders, Impressablilities)
Lacey Spellbinders Nestablilities medium circle die in gold paper
Paper white ribbon edged with gold embossing powder
White top note (EK Success punch) with gold embossed "50th"
Inside is a 50th wedding poem that reads:

A Golden Couple

Half a century ago, they say,
A wonderful marriage began that day.
Two beautiful people joined as one,
And worked together to make living fun.

We celebrate now those fifty years;
We raise our glass and give three cheers:
To partners in life in both work and play,
It’s our pleasure to share your golden day.

Happy 50th Anniversary!

Baby Shower Banner

I made a new baby shower banner for a customer. She wanted it to read "It's a Boy" and in the theme of Winnie the Pooh. She sent me a photo of the nursery and the bedding. I decided to go with the same look as the comforter. Peek a boo, images of Winnie and his friends. The nursery is brown and white with polka dots.

Each piece has a white base (flower shape) with a brown circle. I choose not to use pattern paper on this banner because there is 4 character, with lots of color. I used white gel pen and decorated the brown circle bases with faux stitching. The images were created from the Disney collection cartridges Pooh Font and Pooh and Friends by Cricut. The honey pots are chalked with brown, to make them "pop". There are two different types of brown and white polka dot ribbon used to tie each piece together.

I am still not quit sure if I will post this as a new item in my shop. I may need to adjust some things and create a similar banner to post in the future.

First Spectrum Noir Card

Just bought some Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I figured that the 4 sets of 24 would get me started. I used a C.C. Designs stamp "Birthday Lucy" to create this card for my son's friend. She turned out ok but, could be better. I found that the markers bleed a lot and even when using the Memento tuxedo black ink. While coloring I was finding that I might just need to break down and purchase the rest of the collection of colors. Highlights seem to be not as light in color as I would have like them to turn out. I have been use to using my colored pencils and the control of taking away and adding is much more controllable. I guess I need to color more and practice with my new markers to get use to the different techniques. All in all I do like them but that doesn't mean that I won't still invest in Copic markers as well.

Flower Cuff

Making a few new items for my shop. I still need to make more things to create a new shop for my bridal items but I think I might just list this in my main shop while I work on some other things. Why sit on products if I can perhaps sell them.

What I used:

Chiffon fabric
beads
clear jewelry stretch thread
Metal base
metal crimp covers
thread

Fabric???

Yes, I made something out of fabric! A customer emailed me and liked some of my paper flowers but what she really wanted was a couple large fabric lollipop design flowers. She wanted something neutral in color and rustic.

I had to go shopping. Oh no, we all know what that means. Of course I couldn't just go into Joann's without stopping by the scrapbooking stuff. And yet again a trip that should have cost me a few dollars ended up costing me lots more (shhh we won't reveal how much that is lol).

Wedding Bliss

My shop has been getting a lot of request from soon to be brides. I decided to feature and make some items that have been requested. I have found this to be challenging and fun. It is a bit out of my specialty but, I am still using paper so it works...well lol I think. We will have to see once I make a sale. If all goes well, I will open up a new shop. I don't think that my main shop name will attract many wedding planners.

Paper Roses with Wire Stems

Had a custom request for my paper roses to have stems. I had to brainstorm a bit but figured how to adhere them to the roses from inside. I never thought that I would have to rummage through the tool box for wire cutters and needle nose pliers to create paper flowers.
